Dr. McKenna Caspers, DVM, CVA

Practice Owner

Equine Acupuncture & Integrative Performance Medicine

Dr. McKenna Caspers is a veterinarian devoted to helping horses feel and perform at their very best. She combines the precision of her veterinary training with the whole-horse perspective of traditional Chinese veterinary medicine (TCVM) to deliver thoughtful, evidence-based care to every patient.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Caspers has always been drawn to the complexity and athleticism of the equine patient. During veterinary school she was selected for the highly competitive externship program at Dubai Equine Hospital, one of the world’s busiest horse hospitals. After earning her DVM, she pursued several years of advanced clinical training, including a research fellowship at Cornell University under renowned equine orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Heidi Reesink.

Her research has focused on some of the most challenging issues affecting sport horses today. Dr. Caspers’s research experience includes first-authorship of two peer-reviewed research papers, one on upper airway surgical techniques (electrosurgical ventriculocordectomy) and the other on non-septic tenosynovitis, work that deepened her passion for tendon and ligament healing and early intervention in soft-tissue injury. This background, paired with her training in acupuncture and traditional Chinese veterinary medicine, allows her to approach each case with a unique blend of biomechanics, physiology, and whole-body balance.

At home, she and her husband Rohan Kalra share their time with their two beloved horses: Brass Ring CRF, a retired Arabian show horse, and RAA Lucky Ducky, her enthusiastic future eventing partner. They’re supervised by Irwin, the family cat. When she’s not in the barn or on the road, you’ll find Dr. Caspers out on the water paddleboarding or exploring her favorite locally owned bookstore, All Good Books.

Horse owners choose Dr. Caspers for her expertise, but they stay for her communication, compassion, and commitment to doing right by every horse in her care.
